Review on-line

My very short reviews of new books by Stephen Brockwell, George Ellenbogen, Monica Kidd and Sarah Lang are now on-line. In keeping with my earlier post about poems being more important than poets or books, I do highly recommend checking out Brockwell's The Real Made Up, for three poems in particular: "Helium," "The Bay of Fundy" and especially the virtuoso performance piece "Certain Ingredients for Poems by Al Purdy." There are several other fine poems in it, too. Brockwell's a pretty underrated poet, and I was disappointed that he was left out of The New Canon. I have the feeling that if Carmine had seen some of the work from this book, it might've been otherwise.
